Alaskan Malamute Puppies
The Alaskan Malamute is the largest of the arctic breeds. It weighs on average 70 to 95 pounds (32 to 43kg) and can grow between 22″ to 26 ” (56 to 66cm) tall. Alaskan Malamutes have a thick double coat that comes in a variety of shades wolf grey, black and white, wolf sable or red but the only solid colour is white. The Malamute breed moults heavily, so needs to be brushed twice a week but very rarely needs bathing.
The Alaskan Malamute is a very loyal and inteligent dog but can sometimes be hard to train. They need the owner to be firm and confident, especially male Alaskan Malamutes as they can become dominant. The malamute breed is good with children but don’t always realise how big they are and can knock smaller children over when getting too excited.
Alaskan Malamutes are an active breed and are not well suited to apartment life, they can easily live outdoors and because of their thick coat, Alaskan Malamutes can withstand the cold, just make sure they have sufficient shade in the hotter months.

More information on the Alaskan Malamute
The Alaskan Malamute is descended from dogs belonging to the Mahlemut tribe of the Inuit people from Alaska for whom their dogs played a prominent role in everyday life and lived closely with their human companions – working, hunting, and living alongside one another. The Inuit and their malamute dogs depended on each other and this close relationship allowed them to flourish in the harsh Arctic Circle environment.
During the Klondike Gold Rush towards the end of the 19th century, Alaskan Malamutes and other sled dogs became valuable to new settlers. Malamutes at that time were crossbred with imported breeds and Malamute puppies were greatly sort after. However, this does not seem to have had a major effect on the modern Malamute and DNA analysis shows that Malamutes are one of the oldest breeds of dog.
Alaskan Malamutes are used primarily for heavy freighting and groups of Malamutes are able to pull thousands of pounds of supplies to remote villages. The Alaskan Malamute is a member of the Spitz group of dogs. Descriptions of recently-found dog remains (up to 30,000 years old) fit the Alaskan Malamute very closely. Though not proven scientifically, some believe that the Alaskan Malamute may be the closest living relative to the earliest dogs on earth.
So, if you buy Alaskan Malamute Puppies, you can be sure that you are getting a dog with a pedigree and history that is hard to match in any other breed.
